ABB wins “Contribution to Skills and Training” Award at the Motor Control Industry Awards 2019 thanks to Sentridge and other partners within the AVP network.

Last year we launched “Chalk n Talk”, a training programme focussed on delivering product training on the ABB’s family of variable speed drives. Initially concentrating  on the ACQ580 for water and wastewater applications, our training courses have been extended to cover all current ABB drive models.

The training sessions are proving extremely popular and by the end of 2019 we will have upskilled 200 engineers, managers, apprentices, energy champions and maintainers.

Training with a Difference

Our sessions are very much led by the service engineers; the team at the coal face whose job it is to keep their ABB drives population running as smoothly and efficiently as they can.  Our regular hands on experts ABB’s Andy Preston and Martin Richardson are ably supported by our own Phil Tomkinson, Andrea McPherson and Glen Hickman.

Chalk n Talk is very hands on, with time dedicated to answer queries on specific applications.

The feedback we have received has been fantastic:

“This course should be attended by all Severn Trent staff involved with specifying, installing or maintaining motor-driven applications, or monitoring energy usage, whether at waste or clean water sites. It needs to be part of a bigger cultural change in Severn Trent with respect to saving energy.’
Colin Richardson, Energy Technician, Severn Trent Water

“A good, all-round practical day. Delivered at a good pace with an excellent learning pack.”
Mark Sammons, SAP, Severn Trent Water

“Great hands-on experience backed up with excellent knowledge from the two ABB trainers.”
Andy Byrne, engineer, Severn Trent Water
