We have recently fitted 3 off ABB inverters into a Booster site in Telford called Old Park. We had part commissioned the project by Friday then planned to return on Monday to finish off. The purpose of a booster station is to provide a constant pressure to the water users it supplies and in this case one of the customers happens to be Andy Smith of ABB who for some time now has complained that the water pressure to his house is too low. Andy was very keen to get involved in this project.
Sunday morning, Our Phil Tomkinson was on the 6th hole par 4 – 3rd shot feeling under pressure when a message received on the mobile announced that the pressure to all these houses has suddenly dropped due too the old equipment still in control until Monday.

Typical Booster Station
Two weeks previous to this, Sentridge had delivered a ‘Bite Size’ training course to Severn Trent, which had included all attendees leaving the course with laminated copies of a quick guide and setting up procedure, so the guy on site knew exactly how to interrogate the inverters and get around the problem. Quick phone support from our engineer Brian Pearsall did the trick with local STW Engineer.
On Monday Sentridge returned to site as planned, fully commissioned the system with fantastic results and feedback from Severn Trent. Plus Andy Smith got the better pressure he’d always wanted.
