This has been recognised by the Staffordshire Business and Environment Network, when our Climate Change Champions, Sam and Andrea, were invited to present at a recent SBEN Energy Efficiency event.
Their presentation highlighted that achieving energy savings within industry is not only about switching to energy efficient lighting but can be found closer to the ground with your electric motors, potentially saving much more with a small financial outlay.
Andrea began by explaining the science behind VSDs, which are also referred to as inverters. (We won’t go into that now, but you can read more about how the technology works here.). The basic principle is; if you have a motor running at full speed and controlling the flow at the output then you have an opportunity to save energy.
